Counseling
Lourdes Academy supports and nurtures the social and emotional health of all our students. Our full-time elementary school counselor makes regular visits to classrooms, providing guidance and curriculum, along with having individual sessions with students.
Our comprehensive middle school curriculum fosters academic excellence and leadership. Through a combination of required and elective courses, our academics prepare students for high school and a successful, faith-filled life.

Lourdes Academy provides a complete program of study allowing for intellectual growth in an atmosphere of integrity and personal responsibility. Lourdes offers a four-period school day known as the block schedule. This system provides teachers with the opportunity to offer detailed discussions, labs, projects and field trips within single class periods. It also enables students to focus and dedicate themselves to a smaller number of subjects each semester.
Graduation requirements include:
Total Credit Requirement: 28.5 credits
Lourdes Academy offers a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum, which includes a variety of honors, advanced placement (AP) and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses.
In partnership with St. Norbert College and UW-Oshkosh, Lourdes offers a quality program of college-credit courses. Courses in English, Calculus, Biology and Chemistry are some of the options for students. These courses are taught by adjunct professors. Students can earn dual credits (high school and college). Graduates of Lourdes Academy frequently find themselves beginning college well ahead of their classmates in terms of credits, course selection, and preparation.
In addition, Lourdes Academy offers additional college and high school courses taught at different institutions in our distance learning lab. Distance learning allows our students to take classes that might not ordinarily be offered at a school the size of Lourdes Academy. Some examples of courses offered through distance learning include NWTC Medical Terminology, NWTC Speech and FVTC Introduction to Criminal Justice.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM-based learning programs are designed to incorporate these subjects into everyday activities. Through problem solving and hands-on learning, students develop critical and creative thinking, leadership and teamwork skills.
Teaching students how to brainstorm. Nurturing invention and forward thinking. Curriculum infused with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). That’s what Lourdes Academy’s STEM program is all about.
Brainstormers, inventors and forward-thinkers are in high-demand for our exciting and fast-paced future. At Lourdes Academy, we give our students everything they need to become leaders in these areas through an innovative curriculum called Project Lead the Way (PLTW), the nation’s leading provider of STEM programs.
In 2020, Newsweek announced its ranking of the country’s top 5,000 STEM high schools. Lourdes Academy placed in the top 8% of all high schools nationally, and higher than any other high school in the Oshkosh area.
Lourdes Academy has also been named a PLTW Distinguished School for its Launch (elementary school) and Gateway (middle school) programs, an honor given to districts and schools who achieve exemplary results in their PLTW programs. The Distinguished School recognition honors districts and schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in PLTW programs.
Between 2017 and 2027, STEM jobs are expected to grow by 13% in the United States (that’s 4% more than non-STEM jobs!). Yet, it’s expected that 2.4 million STEM-related positions will go unfilled between 2018 and 2028 due to the skills gap. This is why Lourdes Academy has taken the initiative to implement STEM learning into its curriculum. We want our students to be the next generation of progressive leaders—resulting in new products and processes that help sustain our ever-growing economy.
